Since 2022, Startup Island TAIWAN has partnered annually with Japan’s government, corporations, venture capitalists, and startup leaders to build the Japan–Taiwan Innovation Summit, one of the most in-depth cross-border innovation platforms in Asia.
In its fourth year, the 2025 summit centered on the theme “Bridging Taiwan to the World,” connecting the main event with a series of side programs—including pre-departure training, the Investor Dinner, and the Tokyo Hub 1st Anniversary—as part of the comprehensive Bridge Plan, designed to strengthen Taiwan startups’ integration with the Japanese market.
Held on August 25–26 at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo and Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB), the summit gathered over 100 startups, corporations, and investors from Taiwan and Japan.
The forum focused on four key international topics reflecting the latest collaboration trends:
💼 M&A: Exploring new models of Taiwan–Japan capital cooperation and expansion into Southeast Asia
🚀 CVC 4.0: How industries and capital markets can achieve mutual growth
🔧 The Role of Global Accelerators: Insights from collaborations with Japan’s leading corporations
🌐 Deep Tech Pioneers: Featuring aerospace, AI, biotech, and robotics innovation
More than 25 distinguished speakers—including Deloitte, Sony Ventures, Mizuho Bank, Plug and Play Japan, and SparkLabs Taiwan—joined to discuss the future of Taiwan–Japan innovation ecosystems.
The first day, Bridge Day, centered on forums and cross-sector discussions, strengthening connections between businesses and investors.
That evening, the Investor Dinner was hosted by Dr. Ching-Ching Liu, Minister of Taiwan’s National Development Council, who delivered the opening remarks. Bilingual product videos from Taiwanese startups were showcased to increase visibility among Japanese investors and partners.
On Day 2, Startup Pitch Day, more than 40 teams presented across fields including AI, healthcare, fintech, and digital transformation, attracting over 100 investors and media participants—a defining moment in Taiwan–Japan innovation collaboration.
Before departure, Startup Island TAIWAN held a Pre-Departure Training Session on July 28, guiding participating teams through international fundraising strategies and key insights into the Japanese market.
On August 24, the Taiwan Team Dinner, attended by Minister Liu Ching-Ching of the National Development Council, gathered startup teams to strengthen unity and confidence before the summit.
At the same time, Tokyo Hub celebrated its first anniversary. Since its opening, the Hub has become a vital platform for Taiwan–Japan collaboration, connecting startups, corporations, and investors, and embodying the very spirit of a “bridge” between the two ecosystems.
Through its forums, showcases, and networking events, the 2025 Japan–Taiwan Innovation Summit marked not just an annual milestone, but a key achievement in advancing the National Development Council’s “Bridge Program.”
Startup Island TAIWAN will continue to strengthen Taiwan–Japan collaboration and support more startups in reaching international markets.
By making innovation a shared language, we continue to turn “Bridging Taiwan to the World” into daily action.
